A Warm “Escape”
Love is a powerful force, a feeling that people long for, whether it is loving another person, animal or just the way something smells. Enrique Iglesias uses the power of love to create music. He learned how to express his feelings with music from his father, Julio Iglesias. Julio Iglesias was a famous Latin singer in the 1980s. The snap on Enrique’s record Escape (2001) revolves around love and women. Enrique displays his affection for women and how they have hurt him throughout his life. The album has a lot of Latin flavor which meets its up-tempo beat. There are only about one or two slower tempo songs on the album. The album combines Latin music with up to date pop/rock music. There are a lot of songs that I can focus on to prove that this is one of the best Latin Albums ever.
He leads off the album with the song “Escape,” which is ironically the name of the album. The lyrics of the song talk about Enrique telling a girl that she can leave him but she will never escape his love. His love is to powerful for her to handle and she will come back. “Escape” was one of the tops songs in 2001 but the most famous song of his album is “Hero.” In this song he is telling a woman to not be afraid to jump into his arms. He describes that he will be the perfect man and will be there till the end. This song is one of the slow ones that combine a guitar and a piano to create a soothing vibe. Another popular song by Enrique Iglesias is “Love To See You Cry.” This song’s lyrics speak for itself saying that he loves to see the woman cry and he does not know why. In my opinion he gets satisfied because she is hurt that she is not with him. The last song in my review is by the name of “One Night Stand.” This song also speaks for itself because Enrique is hurt because he has a one-night stand.
Enrique Iglesias whole disposition and rhythm is based off what comes from his heart. I feel like when he sings his songs in Spanish he has more emotion than when he sings them in English. The last three songs on the album are all in spanish. They are the most popular songs on the album but just in spanish. I like this extra music because people from a Latin heritage can sing along but in spanish. I am part Puerto Rican, so coming from first hand it is better to sing along in spanish than english. Enrique has many records and has been on tours with a lot of famous American musicians. He has been noticed to be one of the best Latin singers of his time and the record Escape is one of the best Latin records of all time.
